We don’t think there are enough positive adjectives to describe our experience with Erik and GBL Builders.

We have renovated a number of houses over the years, some several times, but we have never built before and are now at the end of our architecturally designed house build, a project we have been planning for years. 

We wanted to enjoy the experience and we certainly have more than enjoyed the process, it has been an amazingly positive experience with Erik and his wonderful team. 

Someone recently commented to us that it is such a privilege to be able to build your own home, we certainly agree, especially if it can be as pleasurable as it has been with Erik and his team.

Erik has an excellent team of builders whose workmanship can’t be faulted. His passion for quality has meant we have a home we can truly be proud of. Erik also surrounds himself with a group of quality sub-contractors who have been excellent to deal with and have also performed high quality work.

He is a most trustworthy individual and his passion for order and organization, his foresight, effective communication, problem solving and good humour has ensured a smoothly running build. It has truly been a pleasure to work with him and we would wholeheartedly and unreservedly recommend Erik and his team at GBL.

Having had Graamans Building Limited recommended to us, our process started with Erik visiting us, on site, to have a chat about our requirements.  The then current dwelling was a typical 1960’s Keith Hay Home with no storage, next to no lighting and was very small with minimal space for our indoor-outdoor living. We discussed our non-negotiables which was mainly the kitchen and the indoor/outdoor flow. Erik then liaised with Rob Early from Archidesignz who drew up the plans, which were exactly what we wanted.

The build, undertaken during winter over roughly 5 months, was totally stress free and presented no problems whatsoever. Erik and his team of builders, together with his local subcontractors, made the exercise smooth and seamless, with our input being confined to providing the best “roof shout” and various other “shouts” that we could in order to show our total appreciation of all their work.

The end result is truly magnificent and we love it. 

To all those people who talk about the stresses of building and/or renovating, I can only say you need to talk to GBL. I can guarantee you will be thrilled with not only the end result, but you will find the process so easy.

We have recently completed a major house reconstruction involving sections of new build, renovation, rebuilding to new Council specifications, and new elements integrated into the old structure. It was a complicated build spread over seven months. The quality of the build is excellent.  All inspections have passed without a hitch.

From the outset, we were impressed with Erik’s attention to detail and workmanship, and his ability to convey this to his associates and apprentices. His communication skills are exemplary and his interface with other subbie trades was seamless and professional, ensuring that various sub-trade works: Engineering, Earthworks, Drainlaying, Plumbing, Electrical, etc were performed in a timely and professional manner.

Target schedules were met and each day’s activities were commenced on time. The GBL system of reporting and billing is clear and professional.

The Graamans Building team were a pleasure to have on site, especially as we maintained a residence on our property for the duration of the project.

Not only did they make all our very complicated alterations to a very high standard, they also did it with as little intrusion as possible into our lives.  We did not make it easy by living in the property while the work was going on, but they were always sensitive to our needs and privacy.

Always willing to listen to our requests, wherever possible they managed to fit these requests into their schedule and gave us very valid reasons if our requests were not advisable.  

Their sub-contractors used were always of a high standard too, and they made sure that any work done by them was done quickly, timeously and efficiently.  

All building inspections were passed without problems and on time.  

Their time management was amazing, never arriving late, working late if the need was there, and always ensuring the site was left in a tidy manner at the end of the week.
