About Us
After completing school, Erik went on to study architecture and draughting for two years. From there he decided to pursue a career in the building industry and began a four year carpentry apprenticeship. This was completed under the guidance of a reputable Auckland based company specializing in large residential and light commercial areas of the industry. With a large variety of projects, ranging from Bank fit-outs to waterfront homes, much knowledge and experience was gained during this time.
After about a year working as a qualified builder Erik left New Zealand for his OE in England and Europe. In order to see all the amazing sights of Europe, work was necessary, so further experience was gained from many different projects in the greater London area - from high end central London homes to the Maclaren F1 development centre, along with residential renovations and shop fit-outs. Each project was interesting and they all combined into a great way to see Europe and gain valuable experience.
Five years later, Erik returned to New Zealand and settled in the Rodney area. He began work immediately with a well known local building business that specialized in architecturally designed homes. Again, there was a variety of projects all demanding great attention to detail. With some helpful networking, the next step was to start a business, and GBL was formed.
Since that day GBL has completed numerous projects on time and on budget, leaving behind quality workmanship and satisfied clients. With twenty years of experience in the industry, Erik is proud of his business and the standards it achieves, so if you want your next project (big or small) to be built with confidence, then make sure you consider GBL.
